JMG Pushes for Renewable Energy Transition in Nigeria

By Abbas Nazil

JMG Limited, a key player in Nigeria’s electromechanical solutions industry, has reiterated its call for the adoption of renewable energy, particularly solar power, to address the country’s energy challenges.

The company’s Group General Manager, Rabi Jammal, highlighted JMG’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, emphasizing that renewable energy is the future of power generation in Nigeria and beyond.

Jammal noted that since 2018, JMG has expanded its product offerings to include inverters, batteries, and alternative power solutions, strengthening its portfolio to meet the growing demand for clean energy.

Among its notable products are Livfast inverters and batteries, which provide reliable backup power for homes and businesses.

In 2024, JMG further solidified its position in the renewable energy sector by introducing LONGi solar panels, Deye lithium batteries, and Must solar inverters.

These advancements, he said, reinforce JMG’s leadership in Nigeria’s renewable energy space.

As the world accelerates its shift away from fossil fuels, Jammal stressed that solar energy offers a viable and sustainable solution to Nigeria’s power deficits.

He reaffirmed JMG’s dedication to supporting global efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7, which promotes affordable and clean energy, as well as SDG 11, which focuses on sustainable cities and communities.

Through its engineering innovation and renewable energy solutions, JMG aims to contribute significantly to the transition towards cleaner and more efficient power sources.

Beyond its renewable energy initiatives, JMG remains a major provider of power generation solutions, offering a range of generators, including FG Wilson, Eletromak, and Mitsubishi models. However, the company is increasingly prioritizing renewable energy as a long-term strategy for Nigeria’s energy security.

In alignment with its sustainability vision, JMG has joined the global community in celebrating World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development.

This year’s theme, Unleashing the Power of Engineers to Advance the Sustainable Development Goals, aligns with JMG’s commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Jammal emphasized the critical role of engineers in shaping industries, economies, and communities through technological advancements.

As part of its World Engineering Day activities, JMG is spearheading initiatives to engage stakeholders across the public and private sectors, as well as academia.

One of the key events is a road walk for Engineering and Renewable Energy Awareness, scheduled for March 14. The event will bring together JMG employees and industry stakeholders to advocate for increased adoption of solar energy solutions.

Jammal reiterated that as the world moves towards cleaner energy alternatives, the need for renewable energy sources such as solar power has become inevitable.

He called on Nigerians to embrace solar energy as a sustainable solution for reliable power generation and a cleaner future.
