HEALTH BENEFITS OF AFRICAN WALNUT (Tetracarpidium Conophorum)

The African Walnut is popularly known as the “king of nuts” and mostly found in Nigeria and some parts of Africa. It is called “Asala” and “Ukpa” in Western and Southern parts of Nigeria respectively.
The African Walnut is a dark round shaped shell that encases a whitish nut. Most people enjoys eating it without knowing the wonders or health benefits of this snacks.
It is a seasonal fruits with loads of health benefits. Eating the fruits helps to protect you from chronic diseases, prevents sleep disorder, prevent liver damage, improve menstrual flow and are good for pregnant women.
African Walnut contains L- arginine which is very vital for hypertensive patience and takes care of cardiovascular diseases.
These snacks are known as sperm boosters because it helps to increase the quality of sprem. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids which are good source of energy for the heart and other body organs as well as in the development of sperm and fertility in women.
With the rich anti-oxidants and irons in African Walnut, the risk of infectious anaemia and eye related problems are being minimized.
African Walnut are high in calories but can be used in reduction of weight and excess fats if taken in moderation.
African Walnut is recommended because of it’s high Vitamin contents. They are rich in vitamin B6, B7 and E. The vitamin E is an anti oxidant which protects the body from harmful materials, Vitamin B6 promotes brain health and functions while B7 are essential for key metabolic processes.
