In a notable move, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has recently endorsed an Executive Order aimed at streamlining the implementation of the Green Economy Policy within the state.

The decree, titled ‘the Niger State Green Economy Initiative Order (No.3), 2023,’ mandates the alignment of the Green Economy Initiative with the State Blueprint.

This Blueprint outlines strategic pillars and provides a comprehensive framework of key performance indicators, targets, and timelines for the transition towards a green economy.

Furthermore, the Executive Order emphasizes the development of a State-Wide Land Use and Economic Development Plan by the Niger State Government.

The directive also holds all state Ministries, Departments, and Agencies accountable for adhering to the Green Economy Initiative, with the Order stipulating that violations will lead to appropriate sanctions.

Governor Bago, who signed the Order ahead of the weekly State Executive Council gathering in the Council Chambers at Government House, Minna, expressed appreciation to Media Practitioners for their extensive coverage of his administration.

He urged them to maintain their diligent efforts, underscoring the essential nature of the Executive Order for the effective implementation of the Green Economy Policy.

This decisive step by Governor Bago signifies a firm commitment to driving sustainable development and fostering a green and resilient economy within Niger State.
