By Abdullahi Lukman

Katsina State government has procured tractors, other agricultural machineries and motorcycles worth over N36 billion to enhance food security.

Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who announced this recently, said it is part of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to boosting agricultural production and improve livelihoods across the state.

“Recognizing the crucial role of agriculture in food security, employment generation, and poverty alleviation, this administration has prioritized these sectors,” Jobe stated during a press briefing.

He also rilled out other key expenditures in the agricultural sector, which include N36,040,981,760 for 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer, 722 motorcycles, and knapsack sprayers for extension workers.

Jobe said N21,765,381,078 was allocated for 400 tractors, 2,000 hand planters, and 10 combine harvesters, providing farmers with essential tools.

To further enhance agricultural infrastructure, N790,558,800 was spent on upgrading seven zonal produce stores and revitalizing the Songhai Farm Centre.
