The Oyo State Government on Monday hosted a delegation from the Federal Project Management Unit of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) to discuss the upcoming Agri-Food Market Development Project.

During the meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, expressed the state’s readiness to participate in the initiative.

He emphasized that the Seyi Makinde-led administration has laid a strong foundation for agricultural advancement through improved road and rural infrastructure.

Olaleye also commended efforts to include another market in the ongoing remodeling of three major agro-markets under the RAAMP initiative in the state.

National Agro-Logistics Specialist, Salisu Abubakar, who led the federal delegation, said the visit aimed to assess the state’s preparedness and encourage a formal expression of interest in the new project.

He explained that the Agri-Food Market Development Project is funded by the African Development Agency in collaboration with the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

The project seeks to reduce post-harvest losses, boost farmers’ access to markets, and enhance food security across participating states.
