The second anniversary lecture of NatureNews will be chaired by the Emir of Dutse, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Nuhu Sanusi, the management has said.

The anniversary lecture which is titled “Climate Financing for Sustainable Environment in Nigeria” will hold on Thursday 19 January, 2023 at the Shehu Musa Yar`Adua Centre, Abuja.

A statement by the organisation`s Managing Director, Mr. Rasheed Yusuf, said the esteemed traditional ruler and chancellor, Sokoto State University, Sokoto, would chair the lecture cum award giving ceremony.

According to Yusuf, Emir Sanusi, a long standing supporter of NatureNews, has accepted to be the chairman of the event that will attract the who-is-who in both the public and private sectors nationally and internationally.

The NatureNews second anniversary lecture keynote address, the statement added, would be presented by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, while the legal luminary and former Attorney-General of the Federation and Justice Minister, Chief Kanu Agabi SAN, is the special guest of honour.

The event according to Yusuf will also feature the presentation of HEAD Awards to deserving people of worth in the industries.

His Majesty, Dr. Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi is the first class traditional ruler (Emir) of Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa State in the North Western part of Nigeria. He is also the Chancellor of Sokoto State University.

An exemplary thought leader in the global quest for a sustainable living environment, Emir Sanusi is a lead advocate for afforestation and the green ecosystem in his expansive traditional domain. It was this commitment to mitigating the effect of climate change that prompted him to build the Dutse Royal Golf Course which is reputed to be one of the largest in Nigeria with lush vegetation, exotic flora and rare fauna.

Before ascending the exalted throne, Dr. Sanusi had acquired substantial experience in agricultural consultancy and management of complex industrial projects around the continents. Beside his passion for traveling, Emir Sanusi had presented cerebral papers at national and international seminars and has written several books, including his autobiography and the highly insightful History of Dutse.

HRH Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi was a delegate to the 2014 National Conference, and was one of the very silent influencers who spent time helping to build bridges.

While providing the stability of tradition with so much grace, at a period of fast-paced changes as well the challenges characteristic of a civilian political era, HRH is a passionate golf player and he uses that as a very personal and social form of finding inner peace and calmness.

HRH Sanusi is a man of tradition, who is nevertheless knowledgeable in the ways and dictates of modernity too.
