Dana Motors Announces CNG-Powered Vehicles Into Nigerian Markets

By Yemi Olakitan

The exclusive distributor of Kia in Nigeria, Dana Motors Limited, is working to revolutionise the country’s transportation system. Dana Motors Limited has announced plans to introduce CNG vehicles to the Nigerian market in response to rising fuel prices and growing vehicle costs.

In response to the demand for more affordable transportation, this step, according to a statement, illustrates Dana Motors Limited’s dedication to innovation and sustainability in Nigeria’s automotive sector. Dana Motors Limited is getting ready to launch a selection of high-efficiency CNG-powered automobiles after earlier introducing the Kia Soul, Nigeria’s first electric vehicle.

Francis Ogboro, the vice chairman of the group, stated: “At Dana Motors Limited, our mission is to provide Nigerians with cutting-edge, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective automotive solutions. Our goal of enhancing everyone’s quality of life in Nigeria while addressing the rising expense of car ownership is ideally aligned with the introduction of CNG-powered vehicles.

Olu Tikolo, vice president of Dana Motors Limited, continued, “We are committed to making transit more accessible and inexpensive because we recognise the potential of CNG cars to revolutionise public transportation. We hope to improve Nigerians’ overall quality of life with this project.

As Dana Motors Limited is reshaping the Nigerian automotive industry and paving the way for a greener and more affordable future for all, the impending launch of CNG-powered vehicles by the company will significantly aid Nigeria’s efforts to reduce emissions, advance sustainability, and develop a more affordable transportation system.

The management of Dana Motors claims that this is a response to the growing difficulties Nigerians are experiencing as a result of the rising costs related to vehicle ownership. These are a result of the Federal Government of Nigeria eliminating fuel subsidies.

An alternative to petrol and diesel fuels that is cleaner and more environmentally friendly is compressed natural gas (CNG).

According to reports, compared to conventional fuel-powered vehicles, CNG vehicles emit less dangerous pollutants such carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides. Because CNG is produced domestically, it is independent of foreign oil, making it a more reliable fuel source.

Additionally, CNG is less expensive than petrol and diesel, which over time can result in significant fuel expense savings. Comparing CNG vehicles to conventional fuel-powered vehicles, CNG vehicles are more fuel-efficient and can cover longer distances on a single tank of petrol.

Driving a CNG vehicle does have certain drawbacks, though. For instance, the initial cost of purchasing CNG vehicles could be more than that of conventional fuel-powered ones. It could also be challenging to locate a CNG fuelling station because they are less prevalent than conventional petrol stations.

Overall, the advantages of using a CNG vehicle—which include fewer harmful pollution emissions, cheaper gasoline, and better energy security—far outweigh the drawbacks.

However, as international climate change organisations fight for a more climate friendly society, the upfront cost of buying a CNG car and the lack of refuelling facilities may soon be a thing of the past.
