The ceremony for the turning of the solid of the college was attended by Governor Ododo alongside Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi.

Speaking at the event, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has praised the administration of President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in the state stating that the project would address the negative impacts of climate change by promoting renewable energy and adaptation in the country.

Ododo highlighted the college’s mission to empower marginalized communities, foster gender equality, and enhance local resilience.

He noted that the college demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the manpower gap in the renewable energy sector through collaboration with industry players and the Energy Commission of Nigeria.

The success of the college, he emphasized, will depend on the support of the Kogi State government, the host institution, and the local community.

He commended Governor Ododo’s contributions to making the Renewable Energy College a reality and creating a legacy that will benefit future generations.

On the part of Dr. Abdullahi, he described the Renewable Energy College as a milestone in the journey towards delivering renewable energy solutions in Nigeria.

He added that the initiative will not only bridge the manpower gap but also expand knowledge in innovation and renewable energy opportunities.
