The Borno State Agency for the Great Green Wall (BOAGGW) has renewed its collaboration with the Centre for Arid Zone Studies (CAZS) at the University of Maiduguri to strengthen efforts against desertification and land degradation in the Sahel region.

During a courtesy visit to the Centre, BOAGGW Director General, Ambassador Usman Aliyu, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to leveraging research and academic support to enhance environmental restoration across arid and semi-arid communities in the state.

The Director of CAZS, Professor S.B. Adamu, welcomed the delegation and described the partnership as essential to achieving climate resilience.

He pledged continued support through research, policy advisory, and training opportunities for BOAGGW staff.

Ambassador Aliyu highlighted the need for evidence-based approaches in shaping effective climate policies, describing the University of Maiduguri as a key partner in achieving long-term environmental goals.

The visit ended with both institutions agreeing to intensify joint initiatives focused on ecosystem recovery, sustainable land use, and climate adaptation in northern Nigeria.
