The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the Portuguese Company in charge of the Kano-Maradi rail line, Mota Engil will build a Multi-disciplinary University in Rivers State.
Amaechi said this on Monday while giving a lecture at the University of Port Harcourt.
He said as captured in his tweet, that the company’s decision to build a university in Rivers State will serve as a major component of their corporate social responsibility.
He wrote, ‘’We already have a Transportation University being built in Daura. So we have decided that the Portuguese Company in charge of Kano-Maradi rail line, Mota Engil will build a Multi-disciplinary University in Rivers State as a major component of their Corporate Social Responsibility.’’
Naturenews recalled that last month, the minister signed the contract documents for the commencement of the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse railway project.
Amaechi also wrote in a tweet, ‘’We signed the contract documents for the commencement of the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse railway project. The contractor, Mota-Engil Group, a Multinational Engineering & Construction firm has also agreed to build a University as part of their CSR while working on the project.’’
Also, he announced the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kano-Maradi, Kano-Dutse Railway Project, to be performed by President Muhammadu Buhari, slated for Tuesday, February 9.
