The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to provide clean water for residents of Zuba community and deliver critical infrastructure across communities in Gwagwalada Area Council.

Wike made the pledge on Wednesday during a visit to stakeholders in Gwagwalada Area Council, where he expressed appreciation for their support for candidates of President Bola Tinubu in the Feb. 21 FCT area council elections.

The minister said he was concerned that residents of Zuba still lacked access to clean water and assured them that the situation would be addressed.

“I feel so bad that you don’t have water in Zuba. You should consider it done,” he said.

Although the chairman-elect, Kasim Mohammed, won the election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Wike said he would still work with him as part of a broader “rainbow coalition” supporting the administration of Tinubu.

The minister also approved the upgrade of the Gbagyi traditional ruler in Gwagwalada West to a third-class chief, following a request from the chairman-elect.

He, however, advised Mohammed to prioritise projects after his inauguration, noting that not all the requests presented could be implemented simultaneously.

“To be frank, all the things you have mentioned cannot be solved at the same time. Choose the one that is most important to the people,” Wike said.

He described Mohammed as a hardworking leader and urged residents to support him, adding that the FCT Administration would collaborate with the council to provide infrastructure in local communities.

Earlier, Mohammed said the election period was over and pledged that his administration would focus on governance rather than party differences.

He assured the minister of the council’s support and appealed for the provision of clean water for Zuba, construction of a bridge and improvement of road infrastructure in the area.

Also speaking, the Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Mohammed Magaji, thanked Wike for his continued support for the area council and for upgrading several traditional rulers in the FCT. He also pledged continued support for the administration of Tinubu.
