The Kebbi State Government has stepped up efforts to promote investment in agriculture and tourism by strengthening collaboration with national media organisations to showcase the state’s development initiatives and economic potential.
The move was highlighted during a recent advocacy visit by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, and media aides to Governor Nasir Idris to the headquarters of DAAR Communications Plc in Abuja.
According to the commissioner, the visit formed part of a broader engagement with selected media organisations in Abuja and Lagos aimed at fostering mutually beneficial partnerships and increasing public awareness of the state’s development programmes.
He said the Nasir Idris administration has continued to invest in agriculture through the distribution of free fertiliser and other farm inputs, helping to boost food production, improve farmers’ livelihoods and stimulate economic activities across Kebbi State.
The commissioner added that investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education and security have created an enabling environment for sustainable growth, while the successful hosting of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival has strengthened the state’s appeal as a tourism destination.
Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DAAR Communications Plc, Chief Marcel Anyalechi, commended the progress recorded in Kebbi, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure and tourism.
He pledged that AIT and other DAAR media platforms would support the state by providing wider coverage through documentaries, special reports, news features and live broadcasts to showcase Kebbi’s achievements and investment opportunities to national and international audiences.
The commissioner also called for stronger collaboration between government and the media in promoting accurate reporting and combating misinformation, noting that responsible journalism remains essential to supporting development, peace and national unity.
