Sunbeth Global Concepts has announced plans to establish a 70,000-metric-tonne cocoa processing plant and an 80,000-metric-tonne cashew processing facility in Sagamu, Ogun State, as part of efforts to boost local value addition in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The company’s Managing Director, Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, announced the investment while speaking at the Africa Cocoa Finance and Investment Forum 2026 held at the London Stock Exchange Group.
Owoyemi said the facilities, scheduled for commissioning in March 2027, would strengthen Nigeria’s processing capacity, create jobs and enhance the country’s position in the global cocoa value chain.
He urged African cocoa-producing countries to take greater control of sourcing systems, logistics, processing and sustainability frameworks to remain competitive globally.
According to him, Africa must move beyond exporting raw cocoa and focus on value addition to drive industrial growth and long-term competitiveness.
He said the planned investment marks Sunbeth’s transition from an export-focused business to an integrated agro-processing company capable of capturing more value across the agricultural supply chain.
