Environment minister assures Gov Sani of FG’s support on climate action

The Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal has assured Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State of federal government support towards tackling climate change in the state.

The minister’s assurance was announced on Thursday during the unveiling of the State’s Climate Change Policy and Position Statement in Kaduna.

This event marks a significant advancement in the collective efforts aimed at addressing climate change and fostering sustainable development in the region.

In his address at the occasions, the minister praised Governor Sani for his dedication to environmental sustainability, highlighting the critical threats climate change poses to both ecosystems and economies.

He emphasized the necessity of a collaborative approach, one that involves government agencies, the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations, to effectively pursue sustainable solutions.

The Minister also reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Environment’s pledge to assist Kaduna State through technical support, capacity-building initiatives, and facilitating access to climate finance.

In his closing remark , he urged all stakeholders to embrace and champion the new policy, setting a commendable precedent for other states in Nigeria and beyond.
