Invictus Energy to begin exploration programme in Zimbabwe

By Nneka Nwogwugwu

Australia-listed Invictus Energy will begin a two-well exploration programme in Zimbabwe in June.

The company, in a statement on Tuesday, said that Invictus has contracted Exalo Rig 202 to perform the drilling work while Baker Hughes will provide integrated well services.

The company last month raised A$8mn ($5.7mn) to support the development of the Cabora Bassa project.

Invictus-operated Cabora Bassa project in Zimbabwe comprises the Mzarabani and Msasa gas and condensate prospects, which the company describes as “world-class multi-trillion ft3” plays.

The project received environmental approval from Zimbabwean authorities in August 2020.
