VIDEO: Properties destroyed as flood ravages Port Harcourt

Many buildings have been affected and properties destroyed as a result of heavy downpour in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday.
The rain which started in the early hours of Tuesday lasted for 6 hours, causing flood in almost all areas of the city.
NatureNews correspondent gathered that Peter Odili Road, Trans-Amadi Road, Old Refinery Road, Azikiwe Road and Diobu axis were mostly affected by the flood.
Buildings such as the Popular Port Harcourt Mall at Azikiwe Road was not spared from the flood. Many outlets in the mall lost valuable properties as a result of the flood.
Speaking to a resident at Old Refinery Road, Mr Eric Ezenna Alozie-onumadu, he complained that poor drainage system has resulted to recent flooding in the state.
He said that most drainage system have been blocked with waste, hence affecting proper flow of water.
Another resident alleged that the construction of the different flyovers by the present administration should not only be government’s point of interest, saying that all areas such as flood control should also be considered.
The residents called on the state government to evacuate wastes form the drainage.
