Roselle or Zobo as it is commonly called is a flowering plant in the genus Hibiscus that is native to Africa, especially West Africa and spread to other tropical countries. It is known in Nigeria as Isapa among the Yoruba and Yakuwa in Hausa while the seeds is called Gurguzu and the capsule, Zobo in Hausa of Northern Nigeria.
Zobo is known to be one of the most consumed beverages in the world, ranging from Africa to Asia, Europe, America, and it is consumed in various homes and restaurants.
Zobo drink or Hibiscus tea ranks among the world most popular beverages which is native to Nigeria. The drink is produced from Hibiscus Sabdariffa or dried Roselle leaves which contains powerful medicinal properties. The English name of Zobo is Hibiscus sabdariffa tea or drink.
