By Abbas Nazil

The Zamfara State government has sealed a pact with several Chinese firms to enhance security, modernize agriculture, and improve transportation and mining in the state.

The agreement includes the deployment of advanced surveillance technology and mechanized farming techniques to address key developmental challenges.

Governor Dauda Lawal’s media aide, Suleiman Idris, disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau, the state capital, on Wednesday.

The partnership follows a state government delegation’s visit to China from February 15 to 21, 2025, where Governor Lawal and his team engaged with various Chinese industries to explore collaboration in crucial sectors.

Upon their visit to China, the delegation met with Zhong Zhao International Group, Phoenix Wings, Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Co., Ltd, and Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd, among others.

As a result of these discussions, a high-level delegation from China, led by Tang Zhangwei, arrived in Zamfara to solidify the agreements and begin implementation.

Governor Lawal welcomed the Chinese delegation, emphasizing the strategic importance of the partnerships.

He highlighted that Zhong Zhao International Group specializes in organic fertilizers and mechanized farming and has committed to training local farmers, transferring modern farming technology, and establishing organic fertilizer plants in the state.

The initiative aims to boost agricultural production while promoting sustainable farming practices.

To address security challenges, particularly the menace of banditry and kidnapping, the state government partnered with Phoenix Wings, a Chinese firm known for its expertise in security surveillance technology, including drones.

The collaboration will focus on deploying advanced surveillance systems to strengthen Zamfara’s security framework.

Also, Governor Lawal disclosed that discussions with Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Co., Ltd centered on innovation, robotics, and drone display technology, which could further enhance security operations and other sectors.

The Zamfara delegation also engaged with Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd and Xiamen King Long United Automobile Industry Co., Ltd to develop modern transport hubs and introduce a mass transit system to improve mobility within and beyond the state. Meanwhile, an agreement with WEICAI LOVOL International Trading Company focuses on smart agriculture, integrated management platforms, and modern tractors to enhance farming efficiency.

Furthermore, the state met with Tibet Ming Company to discuss sustainable mining practices and technological advancements to improve mineral exploration in Zamfara.
