By Salifu Faridat

The Yobe State government is putting in significant efforts to enhance the safety of residents in vulnerable communities.

Given the potential risks posed by flooding, the government is committed to reviewing its evacuation procedures.

This involves relocating people to safer areas with the aim of preventing loss of life and property.

Dr. Goje Muhammad, the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), reiterated this commitment during the recent distribution of food items to 6,800 beneficiaries in Potiskum LGA.

It’s truly commendable to witness the government’s dedication to safeguarding its citizens and mitigating the impact of natural disasters, he said.

Amidst the recent release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon, Dr. Muhammad, emphasized the vital importance of promptly evacuating residents from flood-prone areas to safer locations.

The agency has proactively engaged traditional and religious leaders to inform at-risk communities and ensure the relocation of endangered residents to higher ground.

Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed the agency to be fully prepared for the impending flood.

The government’s commitment to citizens’ safety and well-being is truly commendable. Stay safe and vigilant.

Dr. Goje Muhammad expressed concerns about the potential flooding risk to crops that have already been planted by affected communities.

He underscored that Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) has meticulously profiled the situation to minimize impact and reduce casualties.

Furthermore, during the food distribution, Dr. Goje highlighted that providing rice and maize to 6,800 individuals will significantly alleviate the hardships caused by the removal of subsidies.

It’s genuinely reassuring to witness the agency’s dedication to supporting the community during these challenging times. Stay strong and resilient.
