By Grace Samuel
Responding to the urgent need to address the hoarding and exportation of grains, the Yobe State government has established a 24-member committee tasked with curbing these detrimental practices within the state.
The committee, inaugurated at the Government House in Damaturu, was spearheaded by the state’s deputy governor, Idi Barde Gubana, in direct response to the grievances of the populace and to prevent the persistence of negative trends.
Addressing the issue, Governor Buni highlighted the nefarious activities of individuals lacking integrity who intentionally exacerbate chaos by purchasing large quantities of essential food items and hoarding them, thereby imposing unnecessary hardships on the population.
Governor Buni emphasized that the committee would collaborate closely with security agencies to ensure the fair distribution of purchased grains to the public at discounted rates.
Furthermore, the committee is entrusted with providing comprehensive recommendations to the government regarding additional measures necessary to combat food insecurity in the state.
Under the leadership of Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, Yobe State’s deputy governor, the committee will endeavor to fulfill its mandate diligently.
Supporting him in this endeavor, Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government, will serve as the committee’s secretary, ensuring efficient coordination and execution of its objectives.
