YEAC-Nigeria Partners UK Body To Provide Solar Electricity In Delta Community

An advocacy group, Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC- Nigeria), has commenced a solar mini off-grid electricity project for Umuolu Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The project commenced after the community formally signed an agreement with the body, which followed the donation of a parcel of land for the project by the community.
The project, according to the Executive Director of YEAC-NIGERIA, Fyneface Dumnamene, is being executed under its Energy Transition Programme for Communities Without Electricity (CWE) in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Commenting on the project shortly after signing the pact with the Umuolo Community Leadership earlier this week, Fyneface said the project is being sponsored by the body’s development partners in the UK.
He said YEAC-NIGERIA had in August 2022 completed surveys in the community after a robust sensitization and awareness creation on the project.
He said: “Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria and UK) and its development partners signed agreements with the leadership of Umuolu Community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State for the installation of Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity facility.
” After measuring the parcel of land for the project to meet the required size, the Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface took possession of the land on behalf of the organization with necessary documents signed by both parties, transferring the land to the organization for the project purpose.
“After signing project acceptance agreements, land donation and transfer deed, the Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface presented a “High-Level Project Plan” document that contains every next steps and activities that would be carried out in the community from start till the Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity facility is powered on, to the President General (PG), of the community, Engr. Tabowei.
“With the yellow spot on the document, it means the activities carried out today, five previous activities have been completed in Umuolu and three more are left before the community is powered on to constant solar electricity in the next few months,” he stated.
NatureNews learnt that materials for the project has arrived the Umuolo Community for installation.
