Government officials, environmental groups and youth organizations, Thursday, June 5, staged a symbolic road walk on Thursday, June 5 to commemorate World Environment Day 2025 and raise awareness on ending plastic pollution.
Led by the State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim, the groups advocated for reduced plastic use and greater recycling efforts.

Participants marched through major streets of Kano city carrying placards, chanting slogans, and collecting plastic waste to emphasize the urgent need for a cleaner, greener future free from plastic pollution.
The ministry urged residents to support ongoing initiatives and adopt eco-friendly habits to help preserve the environment.
World Environment Day, established by the United Nations, serves as a global call to action.
The 2025 theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution,” highlights the importance of collective efforts to address the growing crisis of single-use plastics and plastic waste worldwide.
