Workers trapped as 7-storey building collapses at Lekki

A seven storey building under construction has collapsed in the Lekki area of Lagos State, Killing at least six persons, including artisans.

The incident occurred Sunday morning at Oba Idowu Oniru Street by Ave Maria Hospital, near Sandfield Bus Stop, Lekki.

At the time of this report, the cause of the collapse is not clear, but rescue operations have commenced at the site.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Zonal Coordinator South West, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed that six persons were apparently trapped under the rubbles of the building.

Emergency responders included the Nigerian Police Force, NEMA, and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
