The COWAN official, however, said the establishment of a gender commission was a requirement for the implementation of the law, as it would coordinate gender issues.

“We’re supposed to have a commission to implement it, without this commission the implementation wouldn’t be easy, so we beg the government to take care of it.”

“The reason I am happy with the law is when it says that all customs and traditions that discriminate against women are null and void, which means that women can now inherit land. their parents’ house.”

NAN reports that plateau is the first state in northern Nigeria to publish the GEOL in 2018, which was adopted in 2015.
