Waste Management: Ogun applauds residents for regulations compliance
The Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) has commended residents in the state for complying with the new waste management regulations which will ultimately make Ogun cleanest in Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of OGWAMA, Ola Oresanya made this commendation in a statement signed by him, urging Muslim faithfuls to ensure cleaner environment during the Eid-el -Kabir celebration.
He urged that while celebrating Eid-el -Kabir, they should use the opportunity not to drop their waste anyhow, but to further improve their habit of cleanliness and show that the good people of the state are clean in and out.
Oresanya, while wishing all Barka-de-Sallah noted that waste managers including private waste collectors PSP would be on duty throughout the festive period and called on residents to support them by properly storing their wastes in lidded containers for prompt evacuation.
Furthermore, he tasked also the residents in the state and all Community Development Associations (CDA’s) to use the opportunity of the celebration and the public holiday to interact and bond with private waste collectors assigned to their areas for better understanding.
Moreover, Oresanya called on residents to continue to support the state government waste management cellular economic programmes such as recycling, waste use and waste reduction which would continue to generate employment opportunities for thousands of people especially the women and youths.
He reiterated the state government resolve to bequeath a safe and clean environment while also enforcing the state environmental laws to checkmate infractions.
