[Video] Motorists, commuters raise alarm as flood takes over Okpanam Road in Asaba

Some motorists and commuters have raised alarm over the flood situation at Okpanam Road, Asaba, capital of Delta State.

According to a source, the major road is accommodating the Police headquarters, Federal and State Secretariats, Delta State House of Assembly, Legislators’ quarters, ShopRite, State Water Board, three different banks, hotels and other link roads to Central Bank of Nigeria.

Others are the Government House, Deputy Governor’s Lodge, Courts, schools, Commissioners’, junior staff, PS, quarters and other private and office buildings.

In a video made available to NatureNews, a commuter was heard lamenting on the state of the road and how buses and tricycles were still plying the road despite the volume of the water.

Flood in Asaba, Delta state.

NatureNews recalls that last year, four persons from Omeligboma camp in Oko community, Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, died while trying to escape from the area to avoid being submerged by the ravaging flood.

Also, a community primary school was submerged in a flood last year October, and hundreds of residents became homeless in Ikpide-Irri community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State as the flood destroyed farmlands and properties.
