UNILAG commends overall best graduating student, Alimi Ibrahim

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commended the 2018/2019 overall best graduating student of the University, Mr. Alimi Ibrahim Adedeji.
The institution had its 51st Convocation ceremony on Thursday in Lagos state.
Alimi Ibrahim Adedeji who emerged as the overall best graduating student, graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98 out of the possible 5.00 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The institution in a Post on its Facebook page celebrated the student.
According to the Institution, “Behold the Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2018/2019 academic session of the University of Lagos.
“ALIMI, Ibrahim Adedeji with CGPA of 4.98, B.Sc., Mechanical Engineering.
“We celebrate you and wish you greater heights in life.
“Hearty cheers to your best life yet.”
Meanwhile, the management of University of Lagos revealed on Wednesday that about 281 students graduated with first class degrees as the University of Lagos (UNILAG) graduates 15,753 students, half of which are postgraduate degrees.
Of the 281 first class graduates, 70 of them are graduating from the faculty of engineering, which also produced the overall best graduating student, Alimi Adedeji. Adedeji, who obtained a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, graduated with 4.98 CGPA.
A 71-year-old female student of the University of Lagos, Felicia Marinze, emerged the oldest graduating Ph.D. student from the institution’s School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who announced this at a news conference, said Mrs Marinze (Ph.D. French), from the Department of European Languages and International Studies, had just demonstrated to the world that age was never a barrier to attaining any height.
