UK: Burst pipe closes Drusillas park, disrupts water supply in Alfriston

By Abdullahi Lukman

A burst water main has forced Drusillas Park zoo in Alfriston, East Sussex, UK, to close for the day due to a lack of water, while local homes also face water supply disruptions.

South-East Water confirmed that a serious burst pipe on its network caused low water pressure or no water for some residents in the area.

The company located the fault and is currently repairing it.

To reduce the impact, South East Water has deployed tankers to inject water directly into the system and is delivering bottled water to vulnerable customers on the priority services register.

A spokesperson for Drusillas Park assured that the animals continue to have access to sufficient water despite the closure.

The park also announced that all tickets for Saturday will be honored or replaced.

Repairs are ongoing, with water supply expected to gradually return to normal as the work progresses.
