Thunderstorms, Strong Winds May Precede Rainfall In States, NiMet Warns

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has unveiled its weather forecast for the coming days, offering crucial insights for residents and travelers nationwide.

As per the projections from the Central Forecast Office (CFO) of NiMet, here’s what the weather landscape looks like:

Sunday, March 31st
Northern Region: Expect sunny skies, with slight chances of thunderstorms in isolated areas of Kaduna and Taraba states during the afternoon and evening.

North Central Region: The morning hours will witness sunny conditions with scattered clouds. However, later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are predicted in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.

Southern Region: Anticipate cloudy skies with morning thunderstorms in segments of Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, and Bayelsa states. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected in various states including Edo, Delta, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Abia, Imo, Ekiti, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

Monday, April 1st

Northern Region: Sunny skies prevail, with isolated thunderstorms possible in parts of Taraba and Kaduna states during the afternoon and evening.

North Central Region: Sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning, followed by thunderstorms later in the day in areas of Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue state.

Southern Region: Cloudy skies in the morning with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Cross River state. Expect isolated thunderstorms in various states during the afternoon and evening, including Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers.

Tuesday, April 2nd

Northern Region: Sunny skies with chances of thunderstorms in parts of Kaduna state during the afternoon and evening.

North Central Region: Sunny with patches of clouds in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms in parts of Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Benue states later in the day.

Southern Region: Cloudy skies with thunderstorms likely in parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ondo, Ekiti, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, and Rivers states during the afternoon and evening.

Strong winds may precede the rains in areas prone to thunderstorms, hence the public is advised to take adequate precautions.

Airline operators are urged to acquire updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for seamless operations.
