Tambuwal approves 40,000 tree seedlings for SUBEB

The Sokoto Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has approved 40,000 to be given to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to prosecute its green revolution drive in primary and secondary schools in the state.
Tambuwal who gave the go-ahead during a tree plating ceremony at one of the modern primary schools constructed by his administration in Sokoto also called for the establishment of young foresters clubs in primary and secondary schools across the state.
He equally urged for the nurturing of the trees to maturity for a period of two years while all needed assistances be provided by the govern merit.
Earlier speaking, the chairman of SUBEB, Hon Alteni Shehu kajiji had informed the governor that the green revolution was jointly put-together by Shehu Maikoli foundation, SUBEB and NUJ to mitigate climate changes in the s state.
The Executive Chairman SUBEB stated further that the Board intend to carry out tree planting in 10 primary and 10 secondary schools in the state with formation of young green project with 20,000 and 30,000 trees.
Also speaking at the occasion the commissioner of Environment ministry. Hon. Aliyu Balarabe Dandinmahe confirmed that 50 schools ahead covered adding that “the Gold-green project will mitigate flood occurrence in Sokoto state.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who was represented by sarkin Kilgori Dr. Mohammed Jabi Kilgori, posted that the occasion is timely because energy orisis, low farm production due to global warning would become history.
The sultan therefore called for the involvement and engagement of district heads and religious leaders in the green project and commended Tambuwal for efforts made to mitigate global warning in the state.
