Sri Lankan proposes to set up int’l university on climate change

Sri Lankan President has proposed to establish an international university on climate change in the country with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Ranil Wickremesinghe made the proposal at  a meeting with President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Manila on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, the Sri Lankan government announced that it would launch a national programme in implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Presidential Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardene said the country would seek international assistance to carry out this national programme as the government wanted to minimise the effect of climate change in the country and prepare to face future related challenges.
