Six persons injured as explosion rocks Port Harcourt market

An explosion has occurred on Monday at the Mile 3 market in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leaving about six persons injured.

The explosion occurred at the dry fish section of the park.

Speaking to residents, they alleged that a substance suspected to be dynamite exploded at the market around 6.20am when traders were bringing in their goods and others opening for business.

Two persons were severely injured, while scores, mostly women, suffered various degrees of injuries while the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

As at the time of filing this report, those behind the explosion or what may have led them to put a dynamite at the market was yet to be ascertained.

The Punch reported that the spokesman of the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni was yet to react on the incident.
