Senator Akintude Engages with UN Leaders to Explore Environmental Collaborations
Oyo Central Senator, Yunus Akintude, on Thursday engaged in a series of meetings with prominent figures in the international community.
One of these encounters took place with the United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Aminat J. Muhammed. The discussion revolved around environmental concerns, an area close to Muhammed’s heart.
Her insights were particularly valuable, offering potential avenues for Nigeria to align its goals with global environmental best practices.
Notably, Muhammed had previously served as Nigeria’s Minister for Environment between 2015 and 2016 before assuming her current role as the head of the UN Sustainable Development Group.
Following this insightful exchange, Senator Akintude proceeded to meet with Mr. Matthias Schmale, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria.
Mr. Schmale, drawing from his extensive experience as an administrator, previously contributed to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The meeting between Senator Akintude and Mr. Schmale delved into discussions concerning potential collaborations in the realm of environmental initiatives.
