Sen Smart Adeyemi, passengers stranded as flood takes over Abuja-Lokoja highway

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State, Smart Adeyemi and other passengers were stranded as flood took over the ever busy Abuja-Lokoja highway.

About three buses were swept off the busy highway between Kwali and Abaji with many passengers trapped after a 4-hour rainfall.

Many vehicles from Abuja could not proceed to Lokoja and other Southern parts of Nigeria because of the flood.

Senator Adeyemi said: “The flood was devastating. I witnessed how some vehicles were swept away from the highway.

“I and many travellers can no longer continue with our journey. We have become stranded. There is no other way than to turn back to Abuja.”

“I think the relevant agencies should sustain the warning enlightenment to travellers in this rainy season.”
