RUWASSA Boss Commissions Water, Sanitation Facilities for 30,000 Residents in Jaba

By Abdullahi Lukman

The Director General of the Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan, has commissioned new water and sanitation facilities in Jaba Local Government Area, bringing relief to over 30,000 residents across schools and primary healthcare centres.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Uba Sani during the commissioning, Engr. Shehu said the facilities were delivered as part of the first phase of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) programme, which targets six pilot LGAs across the state.

“This is more than just infrastructure,” he said. “Access to clean water and sanitation is not a privilege—it’s a right. By providing these facilities, we are investing in the health, dignity, and future of our rural communities.”

The intervention aligns with the state government’s ‘Sustain Agenda’, which prioritizes equitable rural development through access to basic services.

The RUWASSA chief stressed that such projects are critical in ensuring inclusive growth across Kaduna’s local communities.

Community leaders, school officials, and health workers in Jaba applauded the project, describing it as timely and impactful.

They thanked Governor Uba Sani for his commitment to ensuring rural areas are not excluded from the state’s development strides.

Beneficiaries also pledged to take responsibility for maintaining the facilities and supporting future infrastructure initiatives under the SURWASH programme, which is expected to expand to more communities in its next phase.
