Rocket attack hits Maiduguri, 13 killed

Thirteen persons have been reportedly killed in rocket attack in Maiduguri by suspected Boko Haram members.

Over 40 persons have been injured, NatureNews gathered.

The major casualties were recorded at a football field in Gwange near the house of the late General Mamman Shuwa, who was one of the earlier casualties of insurgency in the state.

A source who spoke to the Punch said that, nine boys who were playing football early evening were killed by the rocket.

According to the source, the rocket also blasted on other parts of the town. At Adam Kolo part of the town, the rocket killed four persons.

The source said that the corpses were removed and taken to the State Specialist Hospital.

He said those that were injured were equally assisted to the hospital to be treated.

Attempts to get the military and other security agencies to talk on the incident officially were unsuccessful.
