Rivers Governor Unveils Largest Road Construction Project in Nigeria

In a significant milestone for infrastructure development, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, has announced the commissioning of the largest single road construction project ever undertaken by any state in Nigeria.
The ambitious endeavour aims to transform the road network in Rivers State and attract investors from various sectors, thereby stimulating economic growth.
During a recent inspection, Governor Fubara highlighted the deplorable conditions of Degema Street, Harbour Road, Reclamation Road, and the ascending section of the bridge connecting Dr. Peter Odili Road to Woji Town in the old Port Harcourt Township.
He emphasized the urgent need for permanent solutions to fix these roads, assuring citizens that the state government is committed to ensuring their complete restoration.
One of the noteworthy initiatives under the project is the Port Harcourt Ring Road, which will span across six local government areas. This extensive road network is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in various localities within Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Areas, providing residents with smoother commuting experiences.
Governor Fubara expressed his optimism regarding the economic prospects of the region once the project is completed.
He stated, “When all these places are much developed, people and real estate investors will consider moving in there, and businesses will open up because people have started acquiring land there. That is to tell you the importance of the road.”
The Governor’s inspection tour also included a stopover at the Government Secondary School in Emohua, where ongoing construction works were assessed. Additionally, he visited the failed portion of Rumuigbo Road, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of all road infrastructure in the state.
The unveiling of this ambitious road construction project has generated excitement among investors from various sectors who foresee the long-term benefits it will bring.
