Reps reschedule renewable energy summit to May 5

The House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy has announced the rescheduling of the inaugural National Legislative Summit and Expo on Renewable Energy to May 5 to 6, 2025.
Originally planned for February 24-27 at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, the event has been postponed to expand its scope and accommodate the growing number of stakeholders expressing interest in participating.
Afam Victor Ogene, Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, stated that the decision followed extensive consultations between the Committee and the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The event, themed ‘Renew Nigeria: Unlocking Opportunities,’ will now provide a broader platform for discussions and initiatives aimed at driving the nation’s renewable energy development.
The rescheduled summit, the committee chairman said, is part of a strategy to provide a high-level forum for stakeholder engagement, industry assessments, and the identification of key actions based on the renewable energy provisions in the Electricity Act 2023.
Ogene emphasized that renewable energy represents the future of Nigeria’s power sector, and the government is making deliberate efforts to promote sustainability through investments and policy reforms.
As part of these efforts, he said the House of Representatives recently adopted a resolution mandating all government ministries, agencies, departments, and institutions to transition to renewable energy sources for their power needs.
