Psaltry International Lights up Oyo Community with Solar Power Project

By Faridat Salifu

Electricity shortages in the Ado-Awaye community, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State may soon be history,
with last weekend’s commissioning of a solar power project Psaltry International Company Limited to address such shortages there.

The initiative, which includes a 1.1KW solar installation and a 1.1MW battery storage system, was officially launched on Saturday at the company’s cassava processing plant.

The system is set to power the company’s operations while extending its benefits to the neighbouring Alayide village, offering an alternative to the unreliable service from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

Yemisi Iranloye, Managing Director and CEO of Psaltry International, said the project underscores the company’s commitment to self-sufficiency, cost savings, and community impact.

“This solar solution reduces our dependence on expensive diesel and unstable grid power, freeing resources to expand our social programmes in education and employment,” Iranloye said.

Tokunboh Ishmael of Alitheia Group, leading a delegation of foreign investors, praised the company’s innovation and its broader impact on rural communities through sustainable investments.

Also present at the event were representatives from the International Development Corporation of South Africa, the Bank of Industry, and other investors, who commended Psaltry’s role in bridging the energy gap while advancing rural economic development.
