President Buhari appoints Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa as Chairman of NBC Board

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as Chairman of the reconstituted Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Alhaji Mohammed the Board has to be reconstituted following the expiration of the statutory tenure of the former board.

The minister said members of the new Board who will serve a three-year tenure as stipulated by the NBC Act, represent various interests across the country but have a common goal in public service.

The new Board members are Mr. Wada Ibrahim, Mr. Iheanyichukwu Dike, Mrs. Adesola Ndu, Mr. Olaniyan Badmus, Mr. Bashir Ibrahim, Mr. Obiora Ilo, Mr. Ahmad Sajo and Mr. Bayo Erikitola. 

Other members of the Board according to the minister are representative of the State Security Service; a representative of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, as well as the Director-General of the Commission.

A grassroot politician, Honourable Bolarinwa was a member of the House of Representatives and the immediate past Chairmam of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

A three-term Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Hon. Bolarinwa supervised the spectacular O’toge movement and campaign which resulted in overwhelming victory for APC at the 2019 General elections in Kwara State.

The former Gubernatorial aspirant who is fondly called BOB is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin as well as Mass Communication Department of the University of Lagos.
