precycle earns recycled content certification, advances e-waste circularity

By Faridat Salifu

PureCycle Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: PCT) has taken a major step in tackling plastic e-waste by securing GreenCircle Certified’s Recycled Content Certification for several grades of its PureFive™️ polypropylene resin.

The third-party certification confirms that PureCycle’s materials contain verified levels of post-consumer recycled content, supporting industry efforts to convert electronic and consumer plastic waste into high-quality inputs for new products.

Polypropylene, often found in casings, packaging, and components of electronic devices, is one of the most common plastics in global waste streams but is also among the most difficult to purify and reuse at scale.

PureCycle’s patented recycling technology, licensed from Procter & Gamble, removes color, odor, and contaminants from polypropylene (#5 plastic), enabling it to be reused repeatedly without degrading material quality.

The certification process—conducted by GreenCircle Certified, LLC and compliant with ISO 17065 standards—included independent audits and site visits to PureCycle’s Ironton, Ohio facility and its compounding operations.

Sara Risley, Certification Officer at GreenCircle, said the certification underscores the company’s commitment to verified environmental practices and a functioning circular economy.

“This recognition reflects PureCycle’s contribution to sustainable materials recovery, especially at a time when verifiable recycling solutions are in high demand,” Risley said.

PureCycle’s ability to upcycle difficult plastic waste, including post-consumer e-waste polymers, aligns with growing calls for a more resilient and traceable recycling system in the U.S. and globally.

Dustin Olson, CEO of PureCycle, said the GreenCircle certification not only validates the company’s process but also supports its commercial push as sustainability compliance becomes central to customer decisions.

“As the demand for sustainability increases, many customers require this type of certification,” Olson said.

“This comprehensive process and certification is another confirmation of PureCycle’s ability to recycle challenging waste streams and transform them into high-quality recycled products.”

The company plans to continue working with GreenCircle to obtain annual certifications for more resin grades as production expands.

PureCycle’s purification platform is seen as a potential solution to the mounting challenge of e-waste plastics, which are often landfilled or incinerated due to contamination or lack of processing infrastructure.

By transforming polypropylene waste into a circular material stream, PureCycle supports broader e-waste reduction goals while creating reliable feedstocks for packaging, consumer goods, and electronics manufacturers.

The company’s PureFive™️ resin has applications across sectors that traditionally depend on virgin plastics, offering manufacturers a certified alternative with lower environmental impact.

PureCycle Technologies LLC is a subsidiary of PureCycle Technologies, Inc., with operations in Ohio and a global license for its proprietary process.
