Plateau Govt Refutes Claims of 1,000 Cows’ Death, Dispatches Team to Investigate

By Salifu Faridat

The Plateau State Government has categorically refuted the recent claims of the death of more than 1,000 cows within a mere four-day period due to a mysterious disease in villages situated in the Mangu Local Government Area.

The government has taken a strong stance against these reports, asserting that they do not reflect the true state of affairs in the mentioned communities.

In response to the alarming reports, Governor Caleb Mutfwang wasted no time and promptly dispatched a team of epidemiologists to the affected areas.

The primary objective of this team is to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, with a paramount focus on safeguarding the well-being of both humans and animals alike.

Presently, there exists no credible source that can substantiate the claims made in the story, a situation that has given rise to heightened tension in the affected regions.

The government has appealed to the general public, especially the residents of the communities mentioned in the reports, to dismiss these misleading pieces of information.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang underscored the significance of ascertaining the truth and taking necessary measures to prevent any potential loss of lives in the affected communities.

While the authorities acknowledge that there are indeed two suspected cases of anthrax disease in separate communities within the state, samples have been collected and sent for further evaluation and investigation to the National Veterinary Research Institute in Vom.

Until the results of the assessment are made available, the Plateau State Government seeks to rectify the inaccurate reports, explicitly clarifying that no mass death of 1,000 cows has occurred in the areas mentioned.

The government of Plateau State remains unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens and livestock. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided to the public as additional information unfolds.
