Oyo Govt to Enhance Water Quality, Access, Across the State
The Oyo State government has announced its commitment to enhancing water quality and accessibility across the state.
This initiative includes the rehabilitation, upgrading, and expansion of the state’s water supply infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for clean and safe drinking water.
A statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Saturday, highlighted the government’s dedication to the well-being of its residents.
This commitment aligns with the administration’s “Omituntun 2.0” mantra, which seeks to address various factors affecting water production and distribution.
During a tour of the Oyo State Water Corporation’s facilities across the state, led by Chairman Mr. Elias Adeojo, the government’s intentions were made clear.
Adeojo emphasized that efforts would be made to revamp all outdated equipment within the Corporation to ensure they meet the current demands for potable water.
He also expressed the government’s commitment to revisiting and reevaluating abandoned projects to maximize their intended purposes, thereby conserving valuable resources.
Addressing the recurring issue of inconsistent power supply to the Corporation’s facilities, Adeojo assured that the state government was actively working to resolve this problem.
He noted that alternative power supply options would be explored as soon as the state’s economic situation improved, guaranteeing a more reliable power source for water production and distribution.
The Chairman’s tour, accompanied by several Corporation directors, covered areas including Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo, and the less urban regions of Ibadan.
The statement also mentioned that the tour would continue next week, focusing on the Corporation’s facilities within the Ibadan metropolis.
This comprehensive inspection and revitalization effort signify the government’s commitment to providing its residents with improved access to clean and safe drinking water.
