Our members not part of protest, says WAPAN President

By George George George

The Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) has disclosed that they are not part of the ongoing nationwide protest across the country.

The President of WAPAN, Comrade Salisu Yarima, made this known on Sunday in a statement made available to NatureNews.

According to the statement, no registered member of the association is part of the protest.

Part of the statement reads: “WAPAN unequivocally dissociates itself and our registered members from the ongoing hunger protests across Nigeria. Our members are not involved in any capacity, and our focus remains on promoting the welfare and professional interests of our members.

“Furthermore, we want to make it clear that our members are committed to ethical practices and have been cautioned not to buy or trade any vandalized or stolen items from protesters or any other sources,” he added.

Comrade Yarima further called on its members to remain peaceful and law abiding and to respect the stance of the association.
