A coalition of grassroots youth organisations from across Osun State has hailed the climate-smart agenda being implemented by Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as exemplary and positively impactful.
Coordinator of the group, under the aegis of Country Home Youth Forum, Saka Munirudeen Omoniyi pledged the unflinching support of Osun youths to Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke’s Imole 2.0 Agenda.
Mr. Omoniyi said this when he led a delegation of 15 youth leaders on a courtesy visit to Prof. Chinwe Obuaku-Igwe, Director-General and Special Envoy to the Governor of Osun State on Climate Change and Renewable Energy, in Osogbo on Thursday.
Citing the Governor’s impressive record on environment and climate-smart solutions, Mr. Okoniyi added consistent payment of salaries and pensions, visible infrastructure renewal, improvements in education and healthcare delivery, and steady progress in economic revitalization and youth inclusion.
These achievements, Mr. Omoniyi noted, have endeared Governor Adeleke to the people of Osun State, earning him the support of various groups, including the Country Home Youth Forum.
The forum’s leadership assured Prof. Obuaku-Igwe of their commitment to mobilizing support for the Governor’s re-election bid.
The forum, with active membership in every Local Government Area of Osun State, assured the Director General of massive mobilisation in support of Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid, starting from March 2026.
NatureNews notes that this endorsement is seen as a significant boost to the Governor’s campaign, given the youth group’s widespread presence and influence in the state.
In a warm response, Prof. Obuaku-Igwe commended the youth forum’s readiness to partner in climate-smart initiatives, expressing confidence that collaboration would deliver sustainable progress for Osun residents.
She assured the delegation that the Adeleke administration would continue to prioritise initiatives that benefit the people, particularly the youth, and contribute to the state’s overall development.
The DG highlighted the unique opportunity to integrate climate-smart initiatives and renewable energy into the broader Imole 2.0 narrative, positioning Osun as a forward-thinking state.
Prof Chinwe emphasized the importance of aligning governance achievements with grassroots energy and tangible economic benefits for Osun residents.
“The engagement is timely and strategic,” she said, adding that the Adeleke administration is focused on ensuring that its initiatives resonate with the people and contribute to their economic well-being.
This move is expected to not only enhance the state’s environmental sustainability but also create new economic opportunities for its residents.
The Director-General cited plans to create climate jobs and green economy opportunities for youth, promote e-bike and clean mobility solutions, expand waste-to-wealth and agro-processing value chains, and leverage renewable energy for cost-saving governance and future revenue.
These initiatives, according to her, are part of the state’s broader strategy to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
