Osun Governor Distributes 332 Pumping Machines to Address Water Shortage Crisis

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has taken a significant step towards addressing the water shortage crisis in the state.

Within his first 100 days in office, he successfully completed the construction of 332 boreholes across all 332 political wards. To ensure the functionality and sustainability of these boreholes, the Governor distributed 332 power generating sets for their operation.

The distribution of power generating sets marks the final phase of the mass water supply program initiated by the Governor. By powering the boreholes with generating sets, the government aims to provide a cost-effective and sustainable solution to the water shortage problem.

This method, according to Mr. Olaoye Abayomi, the Director of Water, Sanitation, and Environment, will ensure the durability and efficiency of the boreholes.

According to international standards, a single borehole should serve approximately 3,500 people. Therefore, with the completion of 332 boreholes, the Governor has potentially provided water for around two million people in the state.

This ambitious project showcases Governor
Adeleke’s passion and concern for water availability in every nook and cranny of Osun State.

Mr. Abayomi expressed confidence in the design and execution of the borehole project, emphasizing its professionalism.

However, he stressed the importance of local management committees taking
responsibility and ownership of the boreholes. The success of this intervention ultimately depends on the dedication and vigilance of each community in maintaining and utilizing the boreholes effectively.
