Ongoing Building Project Collapses At FMC, Umuahia

A section of an ongoing two-storey building project at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, the Abia State capital, collapsed in the early hours of Thursday.

Confirming the incident at the site, the chief medical director (CMD) of the centre, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi announced that there were no casualties.

He said the affected section is supposed to house the Ultra Modern Accident and Emergency Ward of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the centre.

Furthermore, the CMD added that he had reported the incident to the chairman of the governing board of the centre and also invited the contractor handling the project.
