One dead, others injured in Otedola Bridge accident

An accident involving three vehicles on Otedola Bridge, Lagos has killed a man identified as Lawal and two others injured on Sunday.
The Nation gathered that the accident involved a truck with two registration numbers- LSD973XM and FKJ214XY-, a Toyota Wagon with registration number JJJ28FR and Toyota Camry with number BDG597CY.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), while confirming the accident said that it occurred around 11:30am and involved six persons.
The Nation reports it took the combined efforts of rescuers from FRSC, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to evacuate affected vehicles from the bridge and clear traffic build up.
Although the cause of the accident was not stated, the FRSC said the truck driver fled the scene before arrival of emergency workers.
A statement by spokesperson for Lagos Sector Command, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, assured the driver would be apprehended and prosecuted once the commission identifies owner of the vehicle.
However, LASEMA in a statement, claimed the truck driver was seriously injured and evacuated to the Trauma Centre near FRSC Office by old Lagos-Ibadan Toll Gate.
It said the remains of the deceased man has been claimed by his relatives.
