Oluremi Tinubu Empowers Oyo Women Farmers With Training, Financial Support, Equipment

The empowerment program aims to give women agricultural economic empowerment and increase food sustainability in the state.
The effort was an expression of the First Lady’s commitment to promoting women in agriculture and guaranteeing food security.
Tamunominini Makinde, the wife of the governor of Oyo State and the state’s RHI Coordinator, represented Senator Oluremi Tinubu and presented the empowerment items to the recipients.
Makinde said the program would help women achieve financial independence and realise their full potential.
She expressed government’s recognition of agriculture fir Nigeria’s overall development and economic diversification.
“For many years, agriculture has been the foundation of the country’s economy, especially in the southwest, giving millions of people jobs, economic empowerment, and a means of subsistence,” the Oyo first lady recalled.
“In Oyo State, we acknowledge the vital role that women play in agricultural output, whether it is in large-scale operations or subsistence farming. Women are not only farmers; they also produce food, run businesses, and play a significant role in the advancement of the country.
“We are improving food security and fostering economic growth by empowering women in agriculture,” Mrs. Makinde stated.
She urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment to use contemporary agricultural methods that would guarantee long-term food security and value addition in the industry, and commended Oluremi Tinubu for her continuous efforts to empower women in all spheres of the nation.
Kakulu Omonele, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s Oyo State Coordinator, stated in her remarks that the program would both inspire more women to pursue farming and offer much-needed assistance to those who are currently engaged in the industry.
