Ojodu LG Chairman restates commitment to environmental preservation

 The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Mr David Odunmbaku, has restated the commitment of his administration by taking a pragmatic step in ensuring that the environment of the Local Government Area is clean and aesthetics maintained.

Consequently, the local government authority in ensuring a safe environment has ordered the clearing of refuse disposed at various spots within the communities in the LCDA.

A statement from the Office of the Local Government Chairman on Thursday added that Odunmbaku prioritises the well being of his people and the preservation of the ecological system.

“This has made it a point of duty from the office of the LCDA Chairman, to ensure that all refuse are cleared and drainages desilted as and when due.

“He charged the citizens to shun illegal dumping of refuse which has a lot of attendant adverse effect on all of us such as flooding, air and water pollution, diseases etc.

“He also admonished them to use all designated legal avenues for refuse disposal.

“The council boss restated that anyone who contravenes the legal and proper refuse disposal measures would be met with full wrath of the law, as such actions jeopardize the well-being and safety of us all,” he is quoted as saying.

The Head, Environmental Services Department of the LCDA, Mrs Aramide Pedro, also assured that all paraphernalia and efforts are in place to ensure compliance as the carting of refuse around the LCDA.

“The places such as Ojodu Primary School 1, 2, and 3; Ojodu High School and Oke-Ira Grammar School have been fully cleaned up in preparation for resumption of new academic Calendar, the statement said. (NAN)
